The Sound of Rico Tumbao
"RICO TUMBAO" performs the vital tunes of Traditional and Contemporary Cuban Music, from SON to TIMBA. Among the band members there are musicians from Havana, Guantanamo, Oriente and Camaguey, each one brings the typical sound of his home town.
 
RICO is sweet or rich. TUMBAO is the groove that moves us to a bit. Together they express the sweetness and richness of the Latin Music, which "RICO TUMBAO" hopes their listeners will enjoy and have fun to.
 
"RICO TUMBAO" has appeared at the South Street Sea Port Summer Festival, Jacob Javitz Convention Center, SPICE Summer Festival, Park Slope-Brooklyn Festival, The Port Authority Holidays Festival, , Club SOB’s, The Mansfield Hotel, Gonzalez Y Gonzalez/ The Blue Lounge as well as in many restaurants, lounges and private events around the Tri State area.
 
Founder and Band Leader
Martin Vicente (Director, composer, song writer, lead singer, percussions) Born in Havana, Cuba. Graduated from Cuba’s prestigious school of Music "Escuela Superior De Musica" and was evaluated as a professional singer and musician, by Paquito de Rivera and Arturo Sandoval. After college he began singing with Salsa groups and rising through the ranks of the Cuban music world including performing at the highly prestige "Tropicana" club as well as other first class clubs and cabarets all over the country. While performing with his band in Cuba, he shared the stage with famous groups - Los Van Van, Irakere as well as Orchestra Aragon, to name a few. Martin won several contests such as "the Havana singers contest" and few years later – "The Latin singers competition" in Chicago, IL.
 
Musical director
Pablo Moya (Composer, Saxophone, Tress) Born in Guantanamo, Cuba. Graduated from the University of Santiago de Cuba. After playing and composing music to some top Cuban bands he formed "Los Caraches" and was the first one in world history to put 4 trombones (and no trumpets) in a Salsa group. With his group he won the Egren (the Cuban Grammy). After becoming a master music teacher in Cuba he taught and was the school’s bandleader in the Tchaikovsky Conservatorium, Soviet Union. Later he directed the famous Ecuadorian band "Havana Express". Pablo has preformed with Juan Carlos Formel, Moderna Music Orchestra, Felix Sunbia, Avraham Gonzales, Ray Martinez and Angelo Y Su Conjunto Modelo.
